Many crafts involve textiles, a flexible material comprised of a network of natural or artificial fibers often referred to as thread or yarn. Textiles are formed by weaving, knitting, crocheting, knotting, or pressing fibers together. Types of crafts made with textiles include but are not limited to:

  1. Banner-making - "Welcome Home Bobby!"
  2. Bootmaking - These boots were made for walking
  3. Canvas work - Paint the sky
  4. Cross-stitch - This craft will have you in stitches!
  5. Crocheting - Yay! Doilies!
  6. Curve stitching - Triangles are so much cooler than squares
  7. Dress-making - Patterns from the fabric store are a great help with this project.
  8. Embroidery - Personalized blankets make great gifts
  9. Knitting - Everyone needs a scarf
  10. Lace-making - Make your own lingerie!
  11. Lucet - This is braiding that dates back to the Viking days
  12. Macrame - This one had me in knots!
  13. Millinery - Hats, hats and more hats
  14. Needlepoint - Do two and one because this is a form of canvas work
  15. Patchwork - a quilt made with your old jeans is cheap and warm
  16. Quilting - Three layers of fun
  17. Ribbon embroidery - A romantic old art
  18. Rug-making - I have to say this is one of my favorite things to do
  19. Sewing - Hey, someone has to make the costumes for the play
  20. Shoemaking -I don't know how effective this will be without the elves
  21. Spinning (textiles) - More than just a fitness class
  22. Spirelli (also see Scrapbooking) - A brand new craft from Holland
  23. String art - Mathematical art
  24. Tapestry - Maybe you can listen to Carol King while creating yours
  25. Tatting - Great for tablecloths
  26. Weaving - Create interesting clothes by weaving together different colors
