Typhoid fever is an illness caused by the bacterium Salmonella Typhi. Common worldwide, it is transmitted by ingestion of food or water contaminated with feces from an infected person.
- Some of the symptoms of Typhoid fever incude:
- No symptoms - if only a mild exposure; some people become "carriers" of typhoid.
- The only way to know for sure if an illness is typhoid fever is to have samples of stool or blood tested for the presence of S. Typhi.
