The Wall Street Journal just published a list of 127 NCAA football teams and ranked them according to which teams had the best home field records. It may surprise you not to find the likes of successful teams like Oregon, Alabama or The Ohio State University ( the first undisputed NCAA football champion in NCAA history) but instead many from some of the smaller conferences.. Topping the list is the North Texas Mean Green who are 39 and 1 in Apogee Stadium (pictured). Second, and no surprise to this Big Ten fan, is Wisconsin. Now the home field itself isn’t the only factor when determining home field advantage.. One has to assume that the quality of the officials, the crowd, and schedules would have something to do with it. If you wanna see the entire list of 127, go to this link http://www.wsj.com/articles/who-has-college-footballs-biggest-home-field-advantage-1441405838 , Otherwise browse the top ten list below:

At the 250th American Chemical Society meeting on Tuesday, researchers stated that more than 95 percent of lice populations tested had high levels of gene mutations. "What we found was that 104 out of the 109 lice populations we tested had high levels of gene mutations, which have been linked to resistance to pyrethroids," said Kyong Yoon, who conducted the research. Apparently, these lice are impervious to some of the most popular medical treatments aside from shaving one side of your head, setting fire to the other side and then trying to get them one at a time with an ice pick (that was a joke) scratch scratch scratch... If you live any one of these 25 states, beware:

Dogs are considered man's best friend, yet only 11 states have adopted an official state dog. Maryland was the first. Although states have their own laws and specifics that apply to a citizen's arrest, in the United States private individuals have the authority to make an arrest, even without a warrant. These are called Citizen's Arrests, or CA. An example might be if you see someone stealing a purse, you may on your own initiative detain the person stealing the purse. But there are lots of particulars you should know before you try.. Above all know the laws of your state.

On January 20th, 2015 SplashData published its list of the top 25 worst passwords, it’s actually a list of the most common, but that seems to translate into “worst” when it comes to passwords . SplashData’s research was performed by reviewing over 3 million exposed or leaked passwords. The top two,” 123456” and “password” were the same as the prior year. Back in 2006 a British web site, Modern Life is Rubbish” listed “123” and “password” as 1 and 2, from which one may conclude we are more sophisticated with our PW’s now, adding 3 digits to 123 to make 123456. :>) Who would guess that? “monkey” and “letmein” also reside on both lists. My favorite: “trustno1”

In 2014, the first NCAA College Football Championship Tournament resulted in The Ohio State Buckeyes earning, what many call, the first undisputed national college NCAA Division 1 football champion. Different polls and systems have declared national champions based on algorithms, guess, coaches voting and in some cases, perhaps pixie dust. In the 2000's more than a dozen systems have been used to determine the college football national champions (or at least the best team that year), including the Anderson and Hestor system, the BCS, the Dunkel system, Berryman system and the Eck to name a few. Since 1999, there have been only 5 (including the Buckeyes) that were named by all the polls/systems as champions. Interestingly one of those teams, the 2004 USC Trojans, had to vacate the championship and as far this author knows, no replacement was named (Oklahoma,Auburn,Utah and Boise State were undefeated in 2004), though Auburn is generally recognized as the champion that year) Here are the champions recognized from 2000 -2014:

Seeking to avoid the financial "holiday hangover" that often comes in January, many consumers are planning to spend less than they did on holiday gifts in 2005. In fact, although overall holiday spending is expected to increase this year, a survey by Prinicpal Financial Group found that just 9 percent of workers and 5 percent of retirees planned to spend more money than last year. Looking for a thoughtful gift idea? A pretty package of your homemade Christmas cookies is sure to please (and you get to enjoy the moments you share with your family while making them). Further, fed up with the increasingly prevalent materialistic aspects of the holidays, many Americans are seeking ways to bring back the real meaning of the holiday season. Finally, some people are just plain old very last-minute shoppers, and are therefore, well, pushed to consider alternatives to typical purchased gifts. One such way is giving gifts from the heart, which cost no money but impart a lot of meaning.
