Tags: adsl, sdsl, idsl, dsl, internet, connection, isp
Having trouble with your internet connection? Try these steps
| 1. | Make sure you have at least a power light on the DSL box from your internet provider |
| 2. | Remove the power cable from the DSL box provided from your internet provider or from the electric socket. Wait 30 seconds and reconnet the power. Try it again |
| 3. | Check to make sure you don't have a filter on the telephone cord plugged into the jack that is connected to your DSL box provided from your internet company |
| 4. | Ensure that all cables are firmly in place |
| 5. | If you have a lineshare DSL connection ( where you have phone and internet on the same jack ) make sure you have a dial tone |
| 6. | If your connection runs on a PPPoE scheme make sure you are connecting successfully with that. It can be the case that you have a solid WAN DSL light but you will still not be able to connect |
| 7. | Try disabling all your firewall/antivirus/spyware protection on your computer |
| 8. | Reboot your computer and try it again |
| 9. | If you know where it is, take the DSL box with the power adapter and the telephone cord with a laptop and plug the cord into the NID ( also called DMARC, NIU, MPOE ). There should be a jack there where you can test the line. It may be that the wiring in the building is bad. Try it there |
| 10. | Call your internet providers technical support for assistance |
