Top 5 Cross Stitch Books worth your money!
TIPS
Tags: cross stitch, crafts, stitching books
Cross stitching is a hobby many enjoy, but buying the right books can be pricey. Get only the essentials and the top quality rated books from Amazon. Here is my personal recommendation list.
| | Celtic Art In Cross Stitch by Barbara Hammet- contains the most up to date and colorful cross stitch charts you could ever need to create works of pure art. It has the most beautiful celtic knotwork that is easy to follow, and the materials needed are minimal. | | | Ancient Egyptian Cross Stitch by Barbara Hammet- contains quite a large amount of smaller motifs ideal for bookmarks including Osiris, the eye of Horus, Isis, Anubis etc. At the end of the book you can find a few border designs. This book uses quite a lot of color mostly green, red, yellow, and blue. | | | Silhouettes in Cross Stitch by Julie Hasler- contains quite a lot of the traditional woman side silhouettes, a few cherubs, some children and a large animal band silhouette project. The projects in this book are great, since all you generally need to display it is a picture frame or some fabric and lace. The graphs are rather hard to read, because all that are used are the same black symbols in tiny squares. I suggest maybe photocopying it and coloring in the squares as you go along stitching. On a very bright note, no fraction stitches, which makees me love this book! This is a simple book, but it has a lot of beautiful silhouettes. | | | Cross Stitch Myth & Magic: Wizards, Angels, Dragons, Mermaids, Cherubs, Unicorns, Fairies by David & Charles- contains different themes on each chapter (fantasy, oriental, magic etc.). Some of them are quite hard to do, but there are plenty of smaller projects which I am thankful for. I do have to add that a lot of the patterns use quarter stitching, which can get on my nerves after a while. Either way, I think it is a high quality five star book. | | | A Cross Stitcher's Oriental Odyssey by Joan Elliott- contains 30 design all of fashionable Oriental themes which include pictures of fans and ladies in Kimonos, pot lids decorated with bonsai and butterflies; and linen decorated with birds and blossoms |
