The Best Way to Get A Job for Teens
TIPS
Tags: teens, job, work
It can be hard to find a job when you are a teenager, but it can be done. Here are some tips and advice for young people seeking a part time job.
| | Talk to your school counselor. |
| | Apply for a work permit. |
| | Raise your grades. |
| | Get organized. Find your ID and social security card. Have your school adress and references handy. |
| | Fill out Applications daily. |
| | Look for seasonal employment. For example don't look for a retail job in January when sales are down. Instead look for a retail job in October when they hire for Christmas and look for a job at a gym in January when they are full of people with New Year's resolutions. |
| | Think of it as a numbers game and don't be discouraged. If you fill out enough applications you get enough interviews. If you get enough interviews you get enough offers. If you get enough offers, then you land the job you want. |
| | Work your warm leads. Tell everyone you know that you are looking for a job. Adults love to help young people and you have more advocates than you think. |
| | Write thank you letters to anyone who gives you a lead or a in interview. |
| | Start small and branch out. Your first job should be something simple. Don't only apply for management jobs at your favorite store. |
| | Volunteer in order to build contacts and work experience. It also gives you a wonderful feeling. |
