These are some cooking tips I've picked up while doing my own here at home.
| | 1. Before you chop nuts, - freeze them first. It will make them much easier to chop. |
| | 2. To help keep your pasta from sticking together, - don't add it all at once. Add it gradually, like you were sprinkling a topping on something. And add a small amount of oil. |
| | 3. When you freeze meat, - Always freeze up to two days before the sell by date. With hamburger freeze within two days of purchase. Use the non stick aluminum foil to wrap it, and also place in plastic bag, making sure to press the air out. This helps to prevent freezer burn better than just foil or just a bag alone. |
| | 4. If your spaghettin sauce is too salty - Add a teaspoon of sugar. Too sweet? add a half teaspoon of salt. |
| | 5. When rolling out biscuit dough - Use two drumstick (un-used) on either side of the dough to help make it a half inch thickness. |
| | 6. Instead of salting meat before cooking Salt it afterwards. It helps retain the flavor. |
| | 7. When making cookies - Always be sure your butter is soft and NOT melted. (unless recipe calls for it that way) Cream it with the sugar until very light and fluffy or the cookies could be flat. |
| | 8. When cracking eggs - Crack in on the counter top instead of the side of the bowl. It will help prevent egg splinters that may get in your food. |
| | 9. To keep rice from being sticky - Measure it correctly and just leave it alone while cooking. Don't make the mistake of lifting the lid. It will be sticky. A little butter after cooking helps with the flavor and stickiness too. |
| | 10. After baking biscuits or rolls - Brush the top with melted butter instead of spreading it in between. It will give you a nice buttery taste without all the fat. |
