Which Airlines Still Serve Meals in Coach?

Well the answer is, not very many airlines still serve actually meals in coach but they do provide some "edible" items based on the length of the flight. Oh longing for the good ol days.. warm cookies, after dinner drinks, choice of three entrees.. oh yeah

  • Air Canada On all North America flights, Air Canada offers complimentary non-alcoholic beverages (soft drinks, juices, etc.), while alcoholic beverages are available for $4. For North American flights shorter than two hours, a selection of light snacks can be purchased for $1 - $2. For NA flights longer than two hours (excluding service to Hawaii and Mexico), the menu expands to include sandwiches, pizza and wraps, available for $1 - $5.

  • AirTran AirTran does not serve any meals, but offers complimentary coffee, juices, Coca-Cola products and snacks on all flights. Cocktails, beer and wine are $5 on all flights.

  • American Airlines offers individually packaged snacks for $3 each and bottled water for $2 on U.S. and Canadian flights that are two hours or longer. On flights over three hours, sandwiches and wraps are also available for $5. "Snack packs" are available for $4 on American Eagle and AmericanConnection flights in the continental U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.Complimentary meals are offered on Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, Japan and some Mexico flights longer than four hours within traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner meal windows.You can purchase meals at the gate before boarding at the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and San Juan SJU) airports.

  • Continenta lOn domestic flights over two hours in economy class, Continental serves an appropriate meal and snack on the following timetable:Breakfast/Snack: 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.Lunch/Snack: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Dinner/Snack: 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. If your flight is not during the scheduled breakfast, lunch and dinner hours, a light snack may be offered on flights longer than three hours in economy class. Beverages are always complimentary.

  • Delta On flights less than 450 miles Delta offers one complimentary snack (no choice). On flights ranging from 450 to 1550 miles, you'll be given a choice of snack. On flights more than 1550 miles, you'll be given both the standard snack and a snack choice.Complimentary meal service is given on Alaska and Hawaii flights longer than five hours. Complimentary non-alcoholic drinks are offered on all flights, while a $5 charge applies to all alcoholic beverages in economy class on Delta and Delta Connection flights.

  • Frontier uses a tier system to determine which meals are served on which flights. On the airline's shortest flights, which go to destinations within tiers three and four (Colorado as well as most other Mountain and Midwestern states), only beverage service is offered. On flights to tier two (the Pacific Coast as well as parts of Canada, the Midwest and the South), a cold snack such as a muffin or granola bar is offered. On flights to tier one (the East Coast) or on international flights excluding Cancun, the airline serves heartier fare such as bagels or warm pretzels. Wraps, sandwiches or warm cookies are served on flights to Cancun and Anchorage.Non-alcoholic beverages are complimentary on all flights, while alcoholic drinks are available for $5 each.

  • JetBlue does not serve full meals on flights, but does serve a variety of complimentary snacks and has standard beverage service. Beer, wine and cocktails are available for $5.

  • Midwest Last year, Midwest began phasing in "Best Care Cuisine," an in-flight meal purchasing program with food from a local Milwaukee restaurant. Breakfast, lunch and dinner options range from $5 - $10. You can peek at the current menu before you go and decide whether you'd be better off bringing your own. Note that the menu is not available on West Coast departures or on select East Coast departures.Complimentary warm chocolate chip cookies are served on flights departing after 10:30 a.m. Non-alcoholic beverages are complimentary, with alcoholic drinks available for $4 - $5.

  • Northwest offers snack boxes for $3 in coach class on domestic flights over 600 miles. On flights to Hawaii, Alaska, and most of the Caribbean and Mexico, sandwiches or wraps can also be purchased for $5. Your preference can be pre-ordered online at the Northwest Web site at least 13 hours before your flight.
