This is just a small list of some of the best movies adapted from Broadway. Hollywood has long had good success in adapting Broadway musicals and plays to movies. Movies like My Fair Lady (Katharine Hepburn), The Philadephia Story (Jimmy Stewart), and The Sound of Music are considered all time classic movies. There have also been successful movies that have been turned into musicals including Disney's The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast .

I also love Rent, A Chorus Line, The Phantom of the Opera, South Pacific, Hairspray, Rocky Horror, Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, etc. But there's so much to choose from, and these are among the best of the best!
