Here is a list of all the words people say when playing Halo matchmaking online and the definitions.
| | nub (a.k.a. noob, nuby, newb) - a person who is god awful |
| | pwn - the online gaming version of owning an opponent |
| | green shit - aka the plasma pistol - the small gun that shoots glowing green shit |
| | nub combo - using the green shit (pistol) to drain an opponents life and then a battle rifle shot to the head |
| | green shit - also known as the green powerup that gives people life back |
| | rocks = rockets |
| | snipe = sniper rifle |
| | no scope - killing someone with the sniper rifle without scoping in on them |
| | elephant - the elephant is the monstrous ship in the sandy desert level that moves around the outside of the board |
| | BR = battle rifle |
| | sticks - using a plasma grenade to kill someone |
| | tuck-jump - pushing in the control stick when jumping in order to tuck your legs up and jump higher |
| | grenade jump - looking straight down and throwing a grenade and then jumping higher off the blast |
| | griffball - a modified game where people have hammers and swords and must get the ball/skull in the middle to the opposite "end zone" |
| | sneakin - when a player ducks as he walks around in order to not be seen on radar |
| | Flood - Mass of gurgling zombies reformed from unfortunate Marines or Covenant. Keen on lurking in dark places and leaping out unannounced. A fairly poor choice for dinner guests. |
| | Hunter - Lumbering blue spiky-backed alien equipped with slow-firing cannon and protective shield that doubles as a barbecue table for Grunts. Displays carroty flesh to Master Chief's pistol far too often for its own good. |
| | pink shit - also known as the needler gun |
| | lagger - someone with a poor online connection that makes him seem to move around like Hayden Christensen in "Jumper" |
| | glitching - (see lagger) |
