Florida PWNS Ohio recently in the sporting arena (well, except for the 2003 College Football BCS game when Ohio State beat Miami). Here are the five worst sports losses for the state of Ohio against their new rivals in Florida:
| 1. | 2007 - College Football - The #1 Ohio State University Buckeyes lost to #2 Florida, 41-14, in the BCS Title game, their second straight BCS Title game loss. |
| 2. | 1997 - MLB - Cleveland Indians lost 3-2 in the 11th inning of Game 7 of the '97 World Series to the Florida Marlins. The Marlins were the first team to ever win the Series as a Wildcard team. |
| 3. | 2007 - College Basketball - OSU Buckeyes lost to Florida Gators 84-75 in the National Championship Game, just months after losing the BCS football title game to the Gators. |
| 4. | 1985 - NFL - In the Divisional Playoffs, the Cleveland Browns led the Miami Dolphins 21-3 in the third quarter, but in the scene that would be repeated 4 more times in the 1980s, the Browns collapsed down the stretch as the Dolphins came back to score three touchdowns to defeat the Browns 24-21. |
| 5. | 1973 - NFL - The Bengals split their first eight games, then swept their last six to win their second AFC Central Division title. Then in the Divisional Playoff game, the Miami Dolphins outgained Cincinnati in total yards, 400-194, and first downs, 27-11, while also scoring on three of their first four possessions and shutting out the Bengals in the second half. The Bengals lost 16-34. The Dolphins would go on to win Super Bowl VIII. |
