Some tips on how to save money

1.	USE COUPONS. This may be tedious, but it REALLY helps. It doesn't hurt to spend the $.75 on the Sunday paper if you're going to be saving much more than that throughout the week. Look especially for the coupons that are off of one item rather than 'Buy two', etc. *However these sometimes work well when there are sales (see next)* There are also online coupon sites, such as retailmenot.com which provides codes that are used when purchasing items online. It doesn't hurt to check here before you place your order!
2.	PERUSE THE SALE PAPERS. This may also be tedious, but it won't take too long. Make a list or chart of the things you need, then make note of which items are on sale and where. Some sales may be '2 for 1' which is good if you have coupons, too. Many coupons are valid only when buying two or more items, so if this is an additional amount you will be saving, go for it!
3.	SHOP ONLINE. This is super fast, and you will most likely save money -- you can check by also checking the online stores of stores that you would normally drive to. Many sites offer free shipping, and this will save you the gas money to drive to the store. There are thousands of online competitors and you can always find a great deal somewhere. Beware of auction sites, however, because the quality and customer service you want is not always guaranteed. Don't forget to check for coupon codes and rebate sites (see below) before placing your order!
4.	LOOK FOR ONLINE REBATE SITES. Such as BigCrumbs.com (I have used this, so I will use it as an example). The way these sites work are that you sign up, then purchase items from the stores listed on their site (you MUST click on the site from the BigCrumbs.com webpage, otherwise it will not know that you have shopped there and you will not receive your rebate), then go about your normal shopping. BigCrumbs.com will know how much your order was and will give their rebate to you accordingly (while these are only very small rebates..amounts differ for each retailer..they can add up quickly). BigCrumbs.com also offers you to save money when OTHER people shop that you have referred. For instance, my user name is CindyK (please use this if you are signing up!), so when you register, put that name in as your Referrer. 5.	CHECK OUT THRIFT STORES. They're not only for clothes. Why spend $8 for that book you wanted to read? Many thrift stores sell books for $.50 or less. Of course there are tons of clothes that you can browse through, as well, just be sure to wash them a couple times before wearing them (who knows where they came from..). Checking out a thrift store for one-time dresses is also a good idea, such as for proms or weddings. Chances are that they were only worn a couple of times before being donated, so why pay full price to end up donating yours as well? Many also carry furniture, toys, games, CDs, DVDs, etc.
