Blue Ridge Parkway is a great place to take a long drive. Here are some reasons why:

| | There are fabulous views of Grandfather Mountain, the Linn Cove Viaduct, and overlooks on the valleys. |
| | The Parkway has many designated pull-offs for picnicking and photography, and many folks pull off onto the grass just to stop and relax. |

| | Alternative to I-81 |
| | You have to go twice, once in winter to see the impressive cascades of ice, once in fall to see the fog drifting around - it makes you feel like you are in a fairy tale. |

| | In winter avoid the southern end around Knoxville; it is all skiing tourism industry. Of course, if you like skiing that is a perfect ending of a memorable trip. |
