With the 2008 Summer Olympics in China now complete, these nations top the list of most olympic medals won all-time. Note the impact of geo-political changes on the totals. For example, number 2 on the list is the Soviet Union which is no more. Russia is well down the list post breakup. In addition, if you added the two Germany's together (East and West) their total would be much higher.
