What's What in Houston Bookstores
IMHO
Tags: books, Houston, shopping
The best bookstores judged on various categories and personal whimsy in Houston, TX.
| | 5. Borders chains - Tied with Barnes on publisher's prices and expenses. Often accompanied by Seattle's Best coffee. Most uninformed booksellers. |
| | 4. Barnes and Noble - See above, however accompanied by Starbucks Coffee. It is cheaper to have WiFi at home than to pay ATT more money to use it here sparingly. Second most inept staff across the boards. |
| | 3. Walmart - If you want the latest "it" book, Walmart will have it cheaper than the big name chains, and in bigger bulk. People forget to shop here for popular, new releases. |
| | 2. Miscellaneous used shops - Always cheap, stores ranging from dirty and unkempt to trendy and upbeat. They are littered all over popular areas such as Rice Village and Montrose. |
| | 1. Half Price Books - A CLEAR WINNER. No contest. Informed staff of bookreaders and booksellers. Very cheap. Same eclectic selection as number 2, but also equipped with latest popular releases as the tops of the list. A Texas company and tradition. |
