What Causes Dark Circles Under the Eyes?
INFORMATIVE User Created List

Tags: Eyes, dark circles, prevention, causes, sinus, colds, allergies

Dark circles under the eyes are a common complaint. They make you appear tired, even when you're not, and can add years to your face, but for some people dark circles seem next to impossible to get rid of. Contrary to what you may have heard, fatigue usually doesn't play a role in dark under-eye circles, according to Mayo Clinic dermatologist Lawrence Gibson, M.D. Lack of sleep is not a common cause either, although not sleeping can make dark circles appear worse because of swelling around the eyes. What does cause dark circles under the eyes? Here's a list of the most common causes.

  •
  • Heredity
  •
  • Eczema
  •
  • Allergies
  •
  • Cold or Sinus Infection
  •
  • Aging
  •
  • Medications
  •
  • Lack of Nutrients

I also read somewhere that dark circles may appear because we don't wear sunscreen regularly. Thus the pigments of out "delicate eye area" darken. Try wearing a facial sunscreen, maybe just on your eyes, but make sure it's safe for that area of your face.
