Tags: food cuisine restaurants Puerto Viejo beach
Puerto Viejo is an adorable Caribbean town in Costa Rica. They have gorgeous beaches and fun things to do, and its a very affordable place to vacation. BUT... if you dont know the place, your dining experience may ruin the trip for you! Make sure to hit these awesome restaurants for a guaranteed good eat!
| | Bread and Chocolate- Mmmh, this place is delicious! They have amazing sandwiches and pastries, definitely a great place for brunch after a walk on the beach! |
| | Selvin's- The guy who owns this place is a big Caribbean guy who knows his stuff! He cooks most of the time, and his rice'n'beans is to die for- and if they have fresh lobster, its definitely worth it too! |
| | La Pecora Nera- THE.BEST. ITALIAN. In all of Costa Rica! The chef is an italian married with a Costa Rican woman (shes the waitress, most nights), and he makes the best pesto I have ever tried! Their pizza is light and makes a good entree with friends, same as the mouth-watering carpaccio. |
| | Stanford's- The food here is alright, but their cocktails? Are great. Plus, at night they put tables out on the beach, and you can sip your margarita while the water touches your toes! |
| | Baba Yaga- A little overpriced, but their pineapple chicken is SO worth it! |
| | Maxie's- In Manzanillo. If you want to try the REAL Caribbean cuisine, come over here and order the "pollo a la caribena". Best all around! |
| | Pan Pay- Great for breakfast or an early lunch, not open past 1pm. Try the chocolate croissants! |
| | Any supermarket- buy the organic chocolate made locally. Its heavenly!! They mix it with maracuya, mint, coffee, and all sorts of exotic fruit! |
| | On the street- Famous Caribbean pastry, the "patty" is always sold piping hot on the street for a very low price. Try it!!! |
