Oddest Grammy Award Winners in American Music
AMUSING
Tags: music, grammy, grammys, awards, winners, american music
The Grammy Award has been around since 1958. Some of the winners are obvious, some are... well, unusual.
| | Weird Al Yankovick- Won a Grammy for his "conceptual video" for the song "Fat" (1988) |
| | Steeley Dan- Beat Eminem, Beck and Radiohead. Really? Steely Dan? Even my 50 year-old father |
| | thought that was ridiculous and he owns pretty much all of the Steely Dan albums released. (2001) |
| | Starland Vocal Band- Who is this? Did they have any songs besides "Afternoon Delight"? This may be more of a "Huh?" when looking back because they disappeared off the face of the Earth right after their win. (1977) |
| | Milli Vanilli won a Grammy in 1990. They were later forced to give the award back once it was proven that they faked their whole album. Really though, what singer doesn't now? |
| | Herbie Hancock- Herbie Hancock was a musical pioneer. He was the first African- American to show a video on MTV, though Michael Jackson holds the distinction of being the first African American to appear in his own video on MTV (Herbie Hancock was never seen in his video). He won a Grammy for best album of the year for his Joni Mitchell TRIBUTE ALBUM. Yes: a tribute album beat out Kanye West and Amy Winehouse among others. (2008) |
