Truly amazing places and beautiful things I've seen
FAVORITES

This is a list of favorite places I've been to or things I've seen and done.
| 1. | A triple rainbow -- two completely arcs and a partial third one -- that I saw in Natchitoches, Louisiana. |
| 2. | Nights in New Orleans when you leave Snake and Jakes bar late at night and walk out into the thick fog, smelling strongly of that New Orleans funk. |
| 3. | Seeing Italy, almost every second of which really was as impossibly beautiful as I had always imagined -- and which has by far the best hot chocolate in the world. |
| 4. | Nong Khai, Thailand, a small town on the Thai/Laos border. Situated on the lovely Maekong River, the city has the truly bizarre Salakaewkoo sculpture park and the truly sublime Mutmee Guest House. |
| 5. | Drinking Lao coffee (/very/ dark coffee with sweetened condensed milk in it) in the morning while staying on the Four Thousand Islands in Laos. The Four Thousand Islands is the very southern border of Laos (along Cambodia) where the Maekong drops during the dry season and exposes little islands everywhere that are then covered as the river swells during rainy season. It's absolutely lovely. |
| 6. | Seeing Michaelangelo's David in Florence, which really wasawe-inspiring. |
| 7. | Getting to take a particularly cute nurse, who wore a fantastic short purple sleeveless dress, to Christian's -- one of my favourite restraunts in New Orleans. |
| 8. | Visiting Wat Phu Thok in Thailand. A meditative wat (temple), it is an entire mountain with rickety wooden walkways winding up to the top where there are an infinite number of tiny little paths to explore with breathtaking views of the surrounding Issan countryside. It is one of the most amazing places I have ever been. |
