10 Games Everyone Should Play Before They Die

These are all, in my opinion at least, truly great games. Give them a try - you won't be disappointed!
| | Half Life 2 - This game is all about the gameplay and the story. The graphics are probably a bit outdated nowadays, but the Source engine is still solid, and the physics-based puzzles and captivating story are really great. | | | Locoroco - Bouncing balls of happiness is really the only way to describe this game, for PSP only. You control a big blob of goo, but not by moving it, but by instead tilting the entire world left and right. If this game doesn't make you smile, nothing will. | | | Peggle - Again, this is another game that should make you burst into a grin. It's a simple concept, you shoot balls out of the top of the screen, and hit pegs to get points on the way down. Unique power-ups and cheerful music and graphics make this one fun. | | | World of Warcraft - This isn't everybody's cup of tea, I know, but it can be fun and extremely addictive, especially if you've got a good set of friends who play the game too. Best of all though, it's easily accessible for everyone, from your girlfriend to your grandma. | | | Wii Sports - Ah, Wii Sports. Really, anything on the Wii, but Wii Sports especially will make you rethink what games should be. The incredibly accurate motion detection leads to a really fun experience, that's again accessible for everyone. | | | Psychonauts - This little-known title is really quite something. It's got a really unique plot, centered around a kid at a summer camp for kids with psychic powers, and has awesome gameplay to match. Another highlight of this game is its wonderful humor. And, it can be had on Amazon for $10 - get it now! | | | Portal - This game is simply a gem. Some people say it's too short, but it lasted me 4-6 hours. It's one of the few games that can actually make you laugh out loud, and its unique gameplay mechanics are a blast. | | | Bioshock - Bioshock's all about the atmosphere; it's such an immersive game that it just sucks you in. Add in lots of unique, fragging fun, and an excellent system by which you can add and subtract extra powers, and you've got an excellent game. | | | Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - This game is incredibly immersive, with its expansive world and awesome AI system that gives characters schedules and unique dialogue. It has dozens of cities and hundreds if not thousands of interesting quests, not to mention its huge modding community which extends replay tenfold. | | | Team Fortress 2 - Rounding out this list, we have another first-person shooter, albeit not one as serious as the others. TF2 has a cartoony graphics style, which meshes well with the over-the-top gameplay. It comes together very well, with 9 unique classes each with unlockable weapons and achievements for tons of fun gameplay. |
