Preparing for a radiology (x-ray) can be easy or difficult depending on the exam, but for any exam they require a few things that must be followed. These tips can save you time, discomfort, and money.
| | Procedure: Always make sure you know what procedure is being done, where its to be done, and that you have followed all preparation. |
| | Driver: For some exams you must have a driver to drive you home, so this you will want to make sure of the day ahead or sooner. The best time is when they schedule your exam. |
| | Time: Always show up for your exam at least 15 minutes prior. It gives them time to check you in and prepare your room. |
| | Clothing: Always wear comfortable clothing that is easy to remove. Single layer garments are the best. Some exams may require you to bring a change of clothes. Most will not though. |
| | Jewelry: Never wear jewelry. Jewelry always has to be removed. It's better to leave it at home. |
| | Patience: Exams are never comfortable no matter what they are, but be patient and try to have a good outlook. It creates a better environment for you, the technologist, and doctors. |
| | Rest: Always take the time to rest after an exam. Some are lengthy and quite painful, so you want to make sure you get plenty of rest. |
