6 Questions to Understand Your Credit

Some things to think about when looking at your credit!
| | Do you pay your bills on time? If you have paid a bill late, if you have ever been turned over to collections, if you have declared bankruptcy, these types of transactions on your history have drastic effects. |
| | What is your outstanding debt? When you owe close to the amount you have as a credit limit, this will have a negative effect on your credit score. |
| | How long is our credit history? A shorter credit history is not as impressive as a long standing credit history, but this can be off set by timely payments and you maintaining a low balance on your revolving credit limits. |
| | Have you applied for new credit recently? Having too many new accounts will not help your score, take a look at what you really want, it is a lot of credit cards or a good credit score. All of those applications for credit cards in order to get the free gift don't help you out long term! |
| | How many credit checks do you have on your history? Requesting your own credit report will not have an adverse effect but multiple applications of various types over a short time will hurt your score. |
| | How many and what types of credit accounts do you have? Having too many credit cards will have a negative effect on your score, but having a variety of installment loans and credit cards my help to improve your score. |
