If you feel you are having difficulty coping with stressful situation, or you are losing control, ask someone to help you or, if you are at work, to relieve you for a few minutes. American Humane suggests you try these tips:

  • Phone a friend.

  • Look through a magazine or newspaper.

  • Listen to music.
  •  
  • Exercise.

  • Take a walk (first make certain that children are not left without supervision).

  • Write a letter.
  •  
  • Sit down and relax.
  •  
  • Lie down
