FAQs about Egg Donation from EggDonorColorado.com
| | Will donating my eggs affect my chances of getting pregnant in the Future? Studies show that women are born with around 2 million eggs at the time of birth. As time progresses that number slowly drops and by the time a woman reaches puberty she will still have 400,000 eggs in store. During your donation we will retrieve on average about 15-22 eggs per donation. This is such a small fraction of the number of eggs you have in store for later. Donating will not affect your chances of conceiving in the future. |
| | I have an IUD, can I still donate? If you have the non-hormonal Paraguard then you may still donate with your IUD left in place, since the donation process will not affect your uterus. However you will need to have your Mirena IUD removed before donating, due to the hormones that are released by the Mirena. |
| | I have my tubes tied, can I still donate? Yes! This process completely bypasses your fallopian tubes and you will still be able to donate. |
| | Will I gain weight? There can be about a 5-10 lb. weight gain during your donation; however most of this is water weight due to the hormones. The weight should come off with the start of your cycle following your procedure. Drinking plenty of water and staying well hydrated during your donation will help so that you do not retain so much fluid. |
| | Can I still workout during my donation? Once you start injections yoga, Pilates or weight lifting and strenuous exercise is not permitted. Light cardio workouts are ok. |
| | What about sexual intercourse? You will be given fertility injections that will make you very fertile. To avoid the risk of you getting pregnant during your donation you should NOT be having sex during your injections and for about 2 weeks following your egg retrieval. This is also to avoid the risk of getting pregnant with multiples. |
| | I was told that my BMI is too high to donate. What does that mean and why? Your BMI is your body mass index. If you are above or below and ideal range it could affect how you respond to the injections of hormones. Therefore we do not accept anyone with a BMI below 19 or above 29. |
| | Will I meet my recipient couple? No. Our donor program is completely anonymous. |
