ODDS & ENDS
Tags: stitches, needlepoint, continental, basketweave, jacquard, gobelin
I wouldn't say that I am a world authority, but here is a list of some of the needlepoint stitches I know...can you add to the list?
| | Continental - More than just a Christopher Walken sketch on SNL |
| | Basketweave - This needlepoint stitch often resembles a basket |
| | Half-Cross - No, you won't get in trouble for doing this during church |
| | Slanted Gobelin - Ah! Oh it's okay, it's only needlepoint. |
| | Byzantine - Great like the emperors |
| | Jacquard - This can also be a loom |
| | Bargello - The name originated from chairs found in the Bargello palace in Florence |
| | Gobelin - This type of needlepoint has its own factory in France |
| | Parisien - Bet you can't guess where this stitching originated |
| | Scotch Stitch |
| | Mosaic - This one you will want to show off instead of using it to cover up |
| | Cross - Keeping vampires away sense the 1700s |
| | Rice - Try to resist eating this delicious stitch |
| | Smyrna - Tell me what country has a city with this same name and you get a star for the day. |
| | Eye - It's always watching |
| | Knotted - All tied up |
| | Leaf - Oh the beauty of nature |
