Reasons For Washing Your Hands!
INFORMATIVE
Tags: hygiene, health, healthcare, illness
Washing your hands is so important. Unclean hands are the most common reason for the spread of bacteria, gems and consequently many diseases. Here's a list of just a few illnesses you can pick up from your own and other people's unwashed hands! Definitely sufficient reason to get scrubbing!
| | Campylobacter- this bacteria is the most common cause of gastroenteritis and food poisoning, both of these illnesses involving a lot of vomiting and diarrhoea. |
| | Salmonella- food poisoning which includes symptoms of abdominal cramps, fever, diarrhoea and vomiting. |
| | Flu- the implications of the flu can be very serious in those with respiratory conditions and the elderly. Starting with a cold-like virus that causes chills, coughing, fever and a sore throat, flu can progress to extreme headaches and tiredness and in serious cases pneumonia and occasionally death. |
| | MRSA- A type of bacteria from which some strains have mutated and become resistant to antibiotics. This can lead to extremely serious health problems, like skin and blood poisoning and infections of the heart, lungs and bones. In multiple cases well documented in the media, MRSA has resulted in death. |
| | Impetigo- a highly contagious bacterial infection which attacks the skin. Although mostly painless, impetigo looks unpleasant, with yellow fluid-filled blisters surrounded by red, crusty and itchy skin. It is extremely contagious and spreads from person to person and to other parts of the body just by touch. |
