Natural color diamonds are the hardest gemstones with 10 on moh’s scale. They are rare, exclusive and found in every color of visible spectrum. So what makes them so unique and one of a kind? The answer lies in the 4Cs classification of diamond. For a diamond 4Cs stands for color, cut, carat and clarity.
| | Color: |
| | Color is the most important factor for fancy diamond. Generally diamonds are rated on the scale of light to deep color including fancy light, fancy, intense and deep color. Pink, blue, green, yellow, orange and red are the most sought after colors in fancy diamonds. These diamonds receive their color due to the presence of trace elements, radiation and slight or heavy inclusions. |
| | Clarity: |
| | The clarity of colorless diamonds is determined on the basis of inclusions and blemishes. The highest quality diamond is completely flawless. But when we talk about color diamonds certain impurities are tolerable unless they are not interfering with the color. In fact sometimes these inclusions play an important role in determining the color. |
| | Cut: |
| | Diamond cut is to polish the stone in a certain way that maximum facets would be reveled at the same time. The cut of a diamond enhance its brilliance and magnifies its color intensity. The aim of cutting a diamond is to allow the maximum reflection of light. An ideal, premium, fine or good cut with maximum brilliance values the most. |
| | Carat: |
| | Weight of the fancy diamonds is one more factor that determines their value. But color being the most highlighted feature demands to be enhanced maximum so the carat of these diamonds can be sacrificed. The purpose of cutting a fancy diamond is to strengthen the intensity of color. In doing so, much of the weight is sacrificed to satisfy the beauty of natural color. |
