Trichinosis, also called trichinellosis, or trichiniasis, is a parasitic disease caused by eating raw or undercooked pork and wild game products infected with the larvae of a species of roundworm Trichinella spiralis, commonly called the trichina worm.
| | The symptoms usually start with fever, muscle soreness, pain and swelling around the eyes. |
| | Thirst, profuse sweating, chills, weakness and tiredness may develop. |
| | Chest pain may be experienced since the parasite may become imbedded in the diaphragm (the thin muscle separating the lungs from abdominal organs). |
