Treatments for Scarlet fever

Other than the occurrence of the rash, the treatment and course of scarlet fever are no different from those of any strep throat.
Antibiotic treatment is considered necessary to prevent rheumatic fever.
| | The rash may last for a very short time particularly if the patient is treated quickly with antibiotics. |
| | If the patient is allergic to penicillin they are usually treated with erythromycin (eg Erythroped). |
