| 1. | Water. Remember to always have bottled water stored both in your car and in your home. |
| 2. | Remember to include supplies such as clothing, food, and safety items when creating a disaster kit. |
| 3. | Be prepared for all types of weather. Which means that you should be prepared to dress in layers in case of extreme cold conditions. |
| 4. | Pack non-perishable items that are easy to eat, such as protein or energy bars, and canned snack-sized fruit. Be sure to pack enough water. |
| 5. | Pack a sleeping bag and tent for shelter, and pack some money for both kits. |
| 6. | Don't forget to include basic items like a flashlight, candles and a battery powered radio. |
| 7. | For your house kit be sure and pack plenty of non perishable food and think about the items you would like to take with you in case of an evacuation. |
| 8. | Have a waterproof/ fireproof lockbox where you keep all of your important papers. In case of emergency, you can grab the box and go. |
| 9. | Be sure and make a list of items you would need in case of an evacuation. Be sure and include personal and sentimental items. The list will help to organize your thoughts and ensure that you will not forget anything valuable. |
| 10. | Make sure you place your kit in a safe area so that if a tornado or flood did occur it would still remain safe. |
| 11. | Don't forget about Mr. Fluffy! Make sure that you will also have food, water, and other necessities for all the pets in your home. |
