All Snowed in - How to Dig out Your Car After a Snow Storm
TIPS
Tags: Snow Storms, Cars and Snow Trouble
As you get up for work in the morning you glance out your window to see the ground covered with a layer of beautiful white powder. Unfortunately, there is no snow day for you and you need to dig your car out to get to work. Here is the most effective way to dig your car out after a snow storm.
| 1. | Find your car - if it is in the garage, just clear the driveway and proceed to step 8. |
| 2. | If in the driveway or street, get out the shovel (and make your kid work for their allowance) |
| 3. | Dig around the wheels and sides of the car. Particularly the drivers side door, getting in the car is half the battle. |
| 4. | You purchased that 99 cent scraper at the gas station now get some use out of it. Scrape your windshield and side windows to allow viability when driving. |
| 5. | Try to unlock door with the key if the car doesn't have a remote. If this doesn't work use a de-icer, try another door, or simply heat up your key with a lighter and attempt to open the door again. |
| 6. | Clear snow away from the tailpipe you don't want exhaust to build up in your interior. |
| 7. | Start the car. |
| 8. | Turn on the heat and rear defroster. |
| 9. | Wait a few minutes. |
| 10. | Get in and drive car. |
| 11. | Enjoy a lovely day at work! |

I've never heard of heating my key. Another tip for cars that are iced shut: hot water. If you're like me, tho, you don't have a large bucket and will be making trips inside and out very frequently. Comment by: buccicone.2
