Great Escapes - How to Make a Sturdy Make Rope

Rope making can come in handy for more than just escaping prison. In those survivor situations it would be very helpful to know how to make a rope.
| 1. | First, you need to take some string and cut a couple of pieces a little more than twice as long as you actually want your rope to be. Then you need to tie all of your pieces together on each end with an overhand knot. Remember all those knots you learned in the boy scouts? Now you can put them to use. |
| 2. | Second, you need to take your dowels and stick one in each end of the rope where you tied your knots and one person should just hold it while the other person is twisting their end. A great job for the kids! |
| 3. | Third, keep twisting until you feel the rope start to pull really tight a good sign that the rope is done is when it starts to knot up. Again, with the knots. |
| 4. | Fourth, when you start to feel this it means that the rope is ready so now what you need to do is stick your finger right in the middle of the string then you need to hand your end of the rope to your friend and slowly let rope twist its self together. Its a lot like what Rapunzel did with her hair. |
| 5. | The final step is to tie another overhand knot in the end so that it will not unravel. Now you can climb down that tower or up that tree! |
