While there is disagreement among the experts, this is the most recommended this method. This should distribute the force of impact, rather than concentrate it on one area of your body. (Standing would be difficult anyway.)

1.	Lie in the center of the car.
2.	Flatten your body against the car floor.
3.	Cover your face and head to protect yourself from ceiling parts that may break loose.
4.	Another method is to climb on top of other passengers. When the elevator car crashes, their body or bodies will absord some of the impact.
