Have you ever wanted to make your room look great but haven't known how? You've come to the right place. Here are some tips to help you with all your decorating needs

1. Measure the width, height, and length of your room and make a floor plan on a piece of paper. Figure out exactly which pieces of furniture you want to keep and which pieces you want to get rid of. "Getting rid of" doesn't necessarily mean throwing away, though. You can sell it or give it to charity. Remember that furniture can be painted and/or restored.
2. Clear out your entire room except for the furniture you want for your new room.
3. Figure out what kind of bed you want. A king, queen, double, or twin? A canopy, box, day bed, sleeper, trundle bed, bunk bed, or loft bed? If you have guests over frequently, you may want to get a couch or futon as well.
4. Think about what activities you will most often be completing in your room. If you have lots of books, a grand bookcase may be necessary. If you like to use your room as a place to do homework, you may want to consider a desk. The list goes on and on.
5. Figure out what storage you need and what kind you want. Don't select anything that's too big or over sized. If you have 10 Cd's, but see a cool 500-CD shelf, don't buy it. It'll just look empty and plain and take up additional space.
6. Keep in mind pieces of furniture that you already have. Draw all these out onto your floor-plan and remember to use a realistic scale. (In other words, make sure everything fits.) Pieces of furniture may include: a bed, a couch, a desk, a vanity, a bookcase, a dresser, a nightstand, etc. If you don't have room for all of this, don't worry. Just focus on the main pieces of furniture for now. We'll worry about decorating later. Draw these onto your floor plan in exactly the same layout you want. (For example, if you want your bed by the window, sketch it there.)
7. Decide what colors you want. This can be tricky but just think of the colors you wear most, and the colors you like. Don't pick anything you think you might get sick of, because, chances are, you will. Choose something classic and cute, because you may not be able to redo your room again before you head off to college! Try to stick with a maximum of three colors. Don't decide on what colors you want the walls or furniture. Just choose three colors. Also, make sure you have an idea of what patterns you want: solids, polka dots, stripes, patchwork, toiler, etc. Another ideas is to make it look like the sky.
8. Look for items online. Don't be scared off by the prices - you're just looking for ideas! Find all the furniture you need - if you want a new bed, look for a cute style as well as a comforter, mattress, pillow, etc.
9. Make a "dream room" collage on Microsoft Word. Again, don't even pay attention to the prices (unless, of course, you can afford them). Also, pay attention to measurements and make sure you don't select too much or too little. Make sure everything you choose will fit in your room.
10. Shop around. After you're done with your collage (expand as much as you want - go all out) go to other websites and try to find similar items for lower prices. A great place to look is http://www.ikea.com. Make a second collage of the items you find here.
11. Arrange your furniture. Put the desk right up against a wall, with the chair underneath it, so that when you walk in the door, it's to your left. Then, your set of drawers should also go up against a wall, so they are right in front of you when you walk through the door. Now, for your bed, this shouldn't be up against the side wall; the top of it should be touching the front wall in the middle, so that when you walk in, you are facing the bed, but it is in the middle of the room. Paint your desk, doors, ceiling, and skirting's white; this looks cool.
