Dorm room decorating on a dime: save your hard earned cash for textbooks and tutoring, you can still be a dorm diva with these decorating tips and spruce up your space for twenty bucks or less.
| 1. | Choose a theme and colour scheme. Make it pretty basic, we're going to Dollarama next, not Ethan Allen. Mine was "sea shells" but you could easily do rubber ducky, roses, daisies, or just go with colour. |
| 2. | a shadow box adds depth to your spaceDecide what you want to put on the walls. Think of depth and height differences to make it interesting, but you will want a couple of "groupings" as well. |
| 3. | Don't worry too much about specifics yet, or even making a list quite yet. You may have to adapt with what's available. |
| 4. | Head to the dollar store! The following decor was purchased for under $20: 1 package of cotton balls, Qtips and cotton pads, 3 shadow box frames, 3 bags of sea shells,2 skinny, tall vases, 2 small wood shelves, 1 waste paper basket (brown with shells), 2 bottles of paint (brown & blue),1 package of paint brushes, 1 package of 9 shell candles, 1 package of 3 clear jars with sealing lids |
| 5. | Paint the insides of the shadow boxes brown, the outsides blue, and fill with the shells. |
| 6. | Paint the shelves blue or brown. |
| 7. | Fill the vases with shells and place one on each shelf. |
| 8. | accessorize your spaceAccessorize your space with the shell candles, and the mini sealing jars can be used for cotton balls, Qtips, paper clips, or more shells. |
