How to Check a Start Capacitor

Learn how to check the start capcitor in your washing machine motor
| 1. | If the motor on your washer makes a humming noise, but it won't start, check the start capacitor. The start capacitor is wired in series with the starting winding in the motor. If the start capacitor is open, the motor will not start. |
| 2. | Remove the start capacitor and use a screw driver to shorten the two terminals and discharge the electricity from it.
