How to Reupholster a Dining Chair Seat
HOW TO

Reupholstering is a great way to give your dining room room a whole new look. Here are some simple instruction on reupholstering your dining room chairs.
| 1. | Measure the size of your dining chair seat to get a rough idea of how much fabric per chair you need to buy. In my experience a yard for each chair is sufficient, with plenty of fabric left over to make matching placemats and even sofa pillows to coordinate. |
| 2. | Unscrew the seats from the bottom of the chair. |
| 3. | Measure the base of the seat and cut the fabric to size, leaving at least 7-10 inches to wrap around the depth of the seat. |
| 4. | Place the fabric wrong-side up in the pattern direction you want and place the seat on it, with the base-side up. |
| 5. | Fold one flap of fabric along the side with the straightest edge and using a staple gun with light-duty staples, staple once on the center edge into the wood of the seat base as a starting point. |
| 6. | On the opposite side, pull up the fabric edge and staple on the center of that side edge. Ensure the fabric across the top of the seat is taut and in the direction you intended. If not, then remove the starting staples and try Steps 4 and 5 again. |
| 7. | Continue with the center staple on the left and right sides of the seat base, and work your way into the corners, pulling the fabric tautly. Leave about 4 square inches at the corners unstapled |
| 8. | For the last square of fabric extending from the corners, pull the corner in first and then wrap the sides and staple down, to make a neat tuck. |
| 9. | Trim any excess cloth and line tape the edges to prevent fraying of the cloth. |
| 10. | Return seat to the chair and screw the base back in. |
