How to Ready Your Five Year Old Daughter for Ballet Class
HOW TO
Tags: Ballet, Ballet Classes, Children Activites
Before your little one can Chassé at her big recital you must get her to class. Here are some tips to make this task a little bit easier.
| 1. | The morning before: Find the ballet bag. Is it still in the back of the car from last week? Did it get tossed into the laundry basket? Make sure you have a clean leotard, tights, and ballet sweater. If you don't, be sure to wash whatever you need! |
| 2. | An hour before: Feed your daughter a snack. Yogurt or fruit is good. Some young children will get sick from dancing after eating a large meal, so make sure you don't over feed her. You want to make sure she's energized for an hour's worth of late-in-the-day precision dance exercises. |
| 3. | A half hour before: Have her go to the bathroom, then get her dressed in everything but ballet slippers. |
| 4. | Twenty minutes before: Make the bun. The simplest way to do this is to make a regular ponytail, then twist the hair until it coils up against her head. Insert bobby pins to the side hold it in place. If your daughter has short hair, usually the best thing to do is put her hair up in a half pony-tail. |
| 5. | Fifteen minutes before: Load her into the car. DO NOT forget ballet bag with slippers in it. |
| 6. | Five minutes before: Help her put on her slippers, making sure she remembers to put the ballet bag away on the shelf. Remember to tuck the elastic ties on the slipper inside the shoe so they don't fall off. |
| 7. | One minute before: Kiss her and tell her to have fun as she goes to line up with peers. |
