INFORMATIVE
Tags: how-to, travel, pets, transportation, carriers, vacation
Here are ten things to do for your pet before you travel with them. What do you know?
| | Familarize your pet with its carrier before you leave. |
| | Don't call attention to your pet or disturb passenger with your pet. Leave it in its cage. |
| | Carry a current (within 7-10 days) health certificate from your veterinarian. |
| | Make sure your pet has a collar on with its information. |
| | Pack a travel kit with some treats, medicine, toys, and health documents. |
| | When making a reservation, make one for your pet as well. |
| | Most airlines require the cage to have absorbant liners. Carry an extra liner with you. |
| | Request that an agent use a hand-held metal detector at the security gate. |
| | If traveling internationally, contact the embassy for quarantine and health requirements. The Pet Travel Scheme ("PETS") allows animals to travel easily between member countries without undergoing quarantine. A Pet Passport is a document that officially records information related to a specific animal, as part of that procedure. |
| | Do not feed your pet within 6 hours of take off or provide water within 2 hours of takeoff. |
