Often times it is difficult to try to get to know the opposite sex in a friendly manor without them getting the wrong idea. Here is a list that will help you to overcome this problem.

1. Consider how close you are with this friend. In case you are close friends with her, just ask her casually. For example, "Would you like to hang out with me at (event)?"
2. Make it clear that you are only going as friends in a nice way, such as, "Hey, (name), we're just going to the dance as friends, okay?", or something similar to that. Make sure you tell her this right after you ask her, if she says yes. You want to avoid giving her a chance to start thinking of you two as more than friends to not hurt either of you.
3. Be yourself. She will certainly say no if you are acting stuck up or too immaturely.
