| 1. | Don't rely on someone else, such as your significant other, for your financial security. Learn about money and money management through your books and your own experience. |
| 2. | Set goals. Reasonable long term and short term goals can really give you something to work towards and provide true satisfaction once you complete them. |
| 3. | Do not use money to make yourself feel good. I know those Manolo Blanc shoes are amazing but in the long run they won't provide you with financial security. Spend your money on things that will enhance your self-respect and creativity, try to avoid splurging. |
| 4. | Spend less than you earn, this may be the most important tip I can give you. |
| 5. | Educate yourself, individuals with college degrees make significantly more money than those without degrees. |
| 6. | Build an emergency fund. When certain uncontrollable events happen in your life such as the loss of your job or health problems it is nice to know that you will be able to handle this potentially difficult financial time. |
| 7. | Be involved in your families day-to-day finances. Know what is going on with your money and discuss money matters with your spouse. |
| 8. | Do not take on your partner or spouses debt when getting married. It is best to wait until you are both out of debt before beginning a life together. |
| 9. | Do not let fear stop you. Although you can be afraid of losing money, or of failure stop you from investing your money. The right investments can really build up your finances. |
| 10. | Learn from your money mistakes and do not dwell on them. What has happened, has happened now it's time to move on. |
