Tags: Tags: Shingles, Chicken Pox, Herpes Zoster, Zostavax, rash, stress, symptoms
| | Early signs of shingles include burning or shooting pain and tingling or itching generally located on one side of the body or face. |
| | The pain can be severe. |
| | 1-3 days after the pain starts, a rash with raised, red bumps and blisters erupt on the skin in the same distribution as the pain. They become pus-filled, then scab over by 10-12 days. |
| | The rash disappears as the scabs fall off in the next 2-3 weeks, and scarring may result. |
| | Most common in people over age 50 |
| | If you have had chickenpox, you are at risk for developing shingles. |
| | Shingles is also more common in people with weakened immune systems and under stress. |
