Tool is an American rock band, formed in 1990 in Los Angeles, California, that consists of drummer Danny Carey, bassist Justin Chancellor, guitarist Adam Jones, and singer Maynard James Keenan. Here's what I know about the band; what do you know?

  •
  • The song and album "10,000 Days" refers to approximately the amount of time Maynard's mother was in a coma before she passed away. The line "Ten thousand days in the fire is long enough, you're going home" from the song states that Maynard's mother has suffered enough and she is finally leaving this earth after nearly 10,000 days of pain.
  •
  • 'Faaip De Oiad' is in the language of angels: Enochian. It roughly translates into The Voice of God, OR Voices of The Just.
  •
  • Danny Carey explained that song 'Eulogy' is in fact not about Jesus Christ; the song is talking about Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. The audience is often misled by the last couple of lines, when Tool is telling the deceased to 'get off the cross'.
  •
  • The German song 'Die Eier von Satan', off of "Ænima", translates into 'The Eggs of Satan'. The song itself is a recipe for cookies that contain no eggs, but do contain a knife-tip of Turkish hashish.
  •
  • In Spring of 1993, Tool were performing at the Garden Pavillion, aka the Scientology Celebrity Center in Hollywood, CA. Once the bandmembers found out they were in the home of the cult, they began acting disruptive. Maynard took note of the expensive grounds, paid for by the followers of L.Ron., and started bleating at the crowd, as a means of accusing them of being 'sheep'.
  •
  • The 1992 Tool album "Opiate" borrows it's name from Karl Marx's famous quote: Religion is the opium of the masses.
