Here are some of the common over-the-counter remedies to fight the common cold. Do they work?
| 1. | Vitamin C: Taking 500 milligrams a day may lower your risk of catching a cold by 66%. |
| 2. | Echinacea: Studies show it doesn't prevent or alleviate cold symptoms. It may weaken you immune system. |
| 3. | Cold-Eeze: Zink shortens the duration of a cold and lessens its severity. Take 3 daily at the first sign of symptoms. |
| 4. | Zicam: Study shows you will recover 2 days sooner than without it. Snort twice daily. |
| 5. | Airborne: The individual ingredients may be effective, but the combination benefit remains to be seen. Don't bother. |
