Oh My Back! - Ways to Fix the Back Pain

If you have any of the following symptoms try these fixes for to ease the pain.
| | Lower Back - A dull ache and radiating pains that range from slight to severe and intesnsify when you walk or move around - cause: A herniated disk - Fix: Avoid a heating pad at all costs when lower-back pain strikes, heat can increase swelling and pain. Use an inflatable pillow in the car, at the office, or on long flights. Accupuncture can also help relieve that pain. |
| | Upper Back - Tight, achy muscles that are sensitive to the touch- Cause: Fatigue and spasms in your trapezius and rhomboid muscles caused by stress and overuse. Fix: Lie on the floor with a tennis ball positioned under the most sensitivespots and roll back and forth on top of the ball for 30 seconds. Repetitive motions can lead to strain so try doing things a little differently, put your phone on the other side for example. |
| | Midback - Pain in one spot on your spine; bending backward makes it feel worse.- Cause An inflamed facet joint. - Fix: Swiming can help your spine because it doesn't put pressure on it yet trains muscles, ligaments and bones. ThermaCare heat wraps can also help. Try some Yoga also, it will reduce back discomfort and build strength and flexibility. |
| | Butt and Hamstrings - Deep ache, pins-and-needles, or shooting pain on one side that improves when you sit. - Cause: Tightening of the piriformis and hamstrings which irritates the sciatic nerve.- Fix: Sleep on a mattress with medium firmness and place pillows under your knees if you lie on your back or between them if you sleep on your side. Stretching at your desk can also help with this type of pain. If the pain began after a fall be sure and call the doctor their may be something more serious going on. |
