In the Allendale (Grand Valley State University) campus community, there are a few good places to visit that I think you shouldn't miss.
| | Applebee's Restaurant - excellent food in a cheerful restaurant setting. Half-price appetizers on weeknights after 9pm, and for those that drink, cheap drafts in the evenings, too. |
| | Diversions Club - great gay/lesbian/transgender club downtown with a bar, dance floor, pool table, and small karaoke stage. Generally friendly people. |
| | Grand Valley State University Kirkhof building - several restaurants, fast food and sit-down. Piano playable by anyone who sits down. Comfortable couches, TV room, game room, and overall pleasant atmosphere. |
| | Grand Rapids Main Library - beautiful, huge new building downtown housing thousands of books, CDs, VHS tapes, and DVDs. |
| | Grand Valley State University Arboretum - lovely arboretum in the midst of a peaceful campus. |
