I am addicted to travel, and this is a list of my 5 top travel experiences.
| | Trinidad, West Indies - Trinidad Carnival - This was a truly unforgettable, amazing experience. I partied for days straight (parties which sometimes involved paint, mud and chocolate, and which always involved rum!) I hope to never miss Carnival again! | | | Torino, Italy - 2006 Winter Olympics - I traveled with a group of friends on local trains from Nice, France, to Torino, Italy to see the first Team Canada men's hockey game against Italy. It was one of the few games we won, and the atmosphere was amazing! It took us 12 hours to get home because of late/missed trains (how I love Italy). | | | Nice, France - I spent the academic year 2005/2006 on exchange at the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis. I had an apartment a block from the mediterranean, and only 12 hours of school a week! I explored Nice, ate delicious food and drank amazing wine. I love France. | | | Holguin, Cuba - After my first year of university I went to Holguin Cuba for a month-long student exchage, to study spanish at the university of Holguin. I went to Cuban festivals, drank rum and danced in the streets. I made amazing friends, learned to salsa (well, kind of) and traveled a bit around Cuba (Havana, Santiago de Cuba, Gibara, etc.) Love this country. | | | Winnipeg, Manitoba - Another student exchange during the summer after grade 11, this one was to learn French at the University of St. Boniface. I slept on the 5th floor of an ancient building with no air conditioning (in my underwear most times), saw a free Great Big Sea concert (complete with hordes of drunken manitobans) and got bit by about a million mosquitoes. It was the hottest summer in Winnipeg in 30 years. |
