People seem to think that anything interesting about California stops around San Fransisco. But really, there's another 400-some miles of "Really Cool Stuff" north of there, and I live in some of it. Here are a couple of great things about Humboldt county, name the Eureka/Arcata area.
| | Humboldt State University. I went to school here. There is a frisbee golf course on campus, a number of geocaches, and everything you would expect from a University campus. Check out the crazy displays in the wildlife building! |
| | Old Town Eureka has a cool boardwalk and some neat shops. |
| | Arcata Plaza Farmer's Market on Saturdays between April and October. Highlights include the Alpaca Lady, the Honey Guy, and the Goat Cheese people. |
| | The Victorian Village of Ferndale is where they shot the movie The Majestic. The architecture is really cool, and again, neat shops and restaurants. Curly's makes the best coconut shrimp ever. |
| | Patrick's Point in Trinidad makes for an amazing view. Nice hiking and a bunch of geocaches. |
