	CHEIs are the only agents that are approved by the FDA for the treatment of AD. ChEIs are medicines that restore the defect, or malfunctioning, in the chemical messengers of the nerve cells.
	Four ChEIs have been approved; tacrine (Cognex), donepezil hydrochloride (Aricept), rivastigmine, and galantamine.
