The hype factor is in full gear for the arrival of International superstar David Beckham. But will Beckham live up to the hype in America? Here are 5 reasons why he won't.
| 1. | Soccer- Soccer is about as popular as bass fishing and bowling in the U.S right now and is a guy married to a former Spice Girl really the guy to save the sport? |
| 2. | Football not Futbol- If there is one thing that everyone knows about America it's that we love our football....the one where you can use your hands and you don't get orange slices and capri suns at halftime. Football is America's sport and soccer will never replace that and shouldn't try. |
| 3. | Celebrity Couples- American's have their fare share of celebrity couples, from Brangelina to TomKat to whatever guy Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan decide to sleep with each week, Americans have had enough. We don't need one more celebrity couple to inform us each week if their getting a divorce or adopting another baby. |
| 4. | Skills- Ask any soccer....I'm sorry futbol fan overseas about Beckham's ability and they will tell you the same thing-he's overrated! He's a novelty act with movie star looks that is no where close to being the best player in the sport. |
| 5. | International flops- Does anyone remember the arrival of Yao Ming in the NBA? He was supposed to change the face of the sport and dominate it for year to come. How about DiceK in Baseball? Both came in with all the hype in the world and both have underperformed. |

Another reason is that he's coming here towards the end of his career, much like Pele. He will draw a lot of people, but will be still be "bending it like Beckham" into the goal? It's possibe he won't very often (or at least not often enough).
